Raz lives here...

After 9 years of working for an ISP, in Jan 2004, I finally found time to point raz.org at a web page - hand written for your pleasure, of course. Don't expect frequent updates, there is STILL real work to be done.

This is me, looking like a Mexican bandit, some many years ago, feeling a bit rough, ahem.

Despite what some people have said, this is NOT the marvellous Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy.
(though he did sing the name of my future wife when I saw him at Leeds on the 10th Feb 1983 - spooky that...
hint - it's on the Black Rose album)

Frequently listening to www.rushradio.org because, just like I said, RUSH came in September (2004) and I needed to get my head around the tracks again. It's a delight making friends again with some of the best tracks of the past 30 years. I have excellent tickets for London - I thought it only fair as they are playing for my birthday (yeah of course they know!).

I was at the Leeds University 100th Birthday Bash on the 24th April 2004, utterly hilarious it was as well, despite the lack of 1985ish graduates. Obviously I went to Nafees (here is the 1984 menu) but what a change - dire food, drab surroundings. I wept in my Dhansak. I have put some photos up at fotopic .

The last time I sang well was in the 1970's in Newcastle Cathedral, when my veg was closer to my body, so if you are looking for the Punjabi singer, it isn't me. Much to my mum's regret, I don't do Punjabi... Geordie with a posh accent yes, Indian sub-continent languages, no!
The annoying thing is he now googles higher than me, along with some legal chap in Oxford - aargh!
(I suppose it could be worse, my brother's namesake does Urdu poetry)

So lets summarise:

  • Born a Geordie
  • Check Friends Reunited to see where I went to School (though they make you register now)
  • Went to Leeds University, did Biochemistry/Physiology/Pharmacology type stuff, and helped run the Prog Rock society, and generally had a most excellent time
  • Postgraduate in Computing, Polytechnic of North London (the year of the Kebab)
  • BT National Billing, Docos House, Aldgate, London
  • BT Applied Technology, Newcastle
  • CITI > Butler Cox > CSC Index, Milton Keynes
  • ITC (briefly though long enough to get a mug)
  • Sema / BP Corporate Centre
  • REDNET > RSLCOM > REDNET > Onetel > Opal Solutions, High Wycombe
  • (I am also in my fourth term as a council member of LINX, Europe's largest Internet Peering point - can you spot me? (clue: I am hopefully the one least like a waxwork))
  • Some of you are aware that I wrecked my knee in July 2002 which rather curtails my desire to revisit the Stage Door in Newcastle, even though Geordie Mark and I haven't been 'oot on the toon' for ages. You can find nicely gruesome pics of what I did on this excellent knee site. I can't kneel properly and it does make a noise disconcertingly like paper crunching when I come downstairs but apart from that, there is only a 6 inch scar to show (lucky me).

So if you think you know me, drop me an email (I'll do a form soonish to avoid more SPAM). Any old flames are always welcome to tell me they are emigrating before they move AGAIN.

Sorry for my lack of contact but work always seems to come before pleasure. Catch up with me on Facebook or LinkedIn.

Occasionally I post to the blog at Raz's blog

    Raza Rizvi,
    Late January 2004, mostly.
Updated (if you can call it that): July 2008.

This used to be hosted where I used work, which used to be called...
